Redefining Success in Schools
Improving Education to Help Learning Disabled Children
(Atlanta, GA) An estimated 15 percent of the U.S. population has some type of learning disability. Only recently has the taboo subject become an accepted and more understood part of society. Many celebrities, such as Whoopi Goldberg, Orlando Bloom and Salma Hayek, have begun to share their struggles with dyslexia and ADD in an attempt to help the millions of children struggling with such learning disabilities deal with the fear of inadequacy.
Rob Langston is dyslexic. He is also the author of For the Children, Redefining Success in School and Success in Life, a personal journey through the trials children face when trying to cope with a learning disability. Having first-hand knowledge of learning disorders, Langston has singled out truths that allowed him to redefine success in school and in life.
As a guest, Langston can discuss:
- His own experiences living, learning and thriving with a learning disability.
- His personal formula to finding the accommodations necessary to succeed.
- The principles he founded for flouring with a disability.
- Misdiagnosis and where the future effects could lead.
- The medical definition of dyslexia including causes, characteristics and questions.
As children grow with such learning disabilities, success becomes hard. Every child learns differently: therefore, there is no norm when it comes to education. Langston says, “For the Children is the first step in changing a child’s schooling…it takes a self-help route and promotes hope for the children, their parents and their teachers.”
For the Children teaches how to grow from being “learning disabled” to a “learning able person with a disability” by providing motivating examples, tips and suggestions on coping with a learning disability. For the Children is the result of a lifetime of trial and error. Langston shares how he beat the odds and become a healthy, happy, successful businessman with a disability.
A portion of the proceeds from Langston’s book will go to For the Children Foundation, a nonprofit foundation for raising awareness for the exceptional child. Along with being CEO of For the Children Foundation, Langston is also president of The Langston Company, a professional speaking, training and consulting firm.
